360° Panorama

This autumn we will release a new publishing option called 360° Panorama.

Development Logo: VRPanorama

Panorama projects replace full 3D navigation with specific 360° views exported from OpenCities Planner viewpoints.

The different views can be accessed via a new Panorama viewpoints menu, as well as in-map icons. The in-map viewpoint icons allow the user to navigate in Virtual Reality mode, with a Google Cardboard headset.

The benefits of publishing to 360° Panorama are threefold:

  1. Lower technical requirements, best suited for lower-end devices and limited data situations
  2. Support affordable Virtual Reality, Google Cardboard VR headsets can cost less than $10 USD and are suitable for branding and giveaway promotions
  3. A guided tour publishing option keeps visitors on point, compared to an open world

That’s not all. 360° Panorama is the first implementation of the new mobile OpenCities Planner interface.

How Soon is Now?

360° Panorama is planned for release this fall. Rollout of the full mobile interface will follow but the date has yet to be determined. Please note that all the screenshots are mockups and are subject to change in the final version.
