OpenCities Planner Update, June 2018

Tasty things are cookin’ in the Agency9 kitchen

It’s been a while since the last update, but that doesn’t mean we’ve been slacking off. We have been hard at work with the new DataManager and DBConnect features – offering full control over all your OpenCities Planner geodata – as well as designing a new mobile interface for OpenCities Planner.

Managing and Connecting Data

Here’s the scoop on our two latest and greatest features.

  • DataManager lets you upload and configure all the data sources needed for a compete 3D city model – terrain, ortho images, buildings, trees, etc.
  • DBConnectlets you configure access to a spatial database and read/write data directly. This allows you to directly visualise and manage 3D buildings stored in the database.Any geometry in your database can be accessed with this feature. You can, as an example, directly visualise local plans from a database. Database updates affect all projects using the same connected dataset.

DataManager and DBConnect are already up-and-running as a beta release for a few pilot users. Contact us if you want to know more about these exciting new features.

OpenCities Planner 2Go

In other big news, we’re thrilled to announce OpenCities Planner 360° Panorama.

This feature will make it easy to publish a project as a 360° tour, generated from Viewpoints and optimised for mobile screens and the Google Cardboard VR platform.

This light version has several benefits. It’s offers finer control of what the viewer sees, plus better performance on older devices or in situations with limited mobile data. Key features such as Project Info, Viewpoints, Layers, and even Dialogue will be supported.

Did someone say Mobile?

Yes, you heard that right. The OpenCities Planner 360° Panorama interface is optimised for mobile, but that’s not all – it’s the first release of our new mobile interface.

Here’s a sneak peak:

Are you as excited as we are?

Regular Product Updates will resume in August.

Have a happy summer!
